If you have looked at a surfing magazine or read an online feature about surf travel in the last 20 years you have probably seen the photographic mastery of Ted Grambeau.

Ted has been at the forefront of adventure travel photography for such a long time now that you could credibly say he owns the genre. Our association with Ted goes all the way back to the start and other than Martin Daly there is probably not anyone on the planet who has done more surf exploration than Ted Grambeau. Ted’s client list includes every major surf company, every high profile pro surfer and a host of other international companies too long to list here. If you think of the famous Rip Curl “Search” campaign you are thinking of Martin Daly and Ted Grambeau’s work as the driving force behind that content generation.

In a “Getting the band back together” moment Ted jumped aboard Trader lll with Martin in late 2019 and early 2020 for the first commercial visits to the NDA Islands. Ted like the rest of us was instantly registering off scale stoke levels and has agreed to come aboard as the NDA Islands project official photographer, joining the Indies Trader photography team alongside resident Beran Island Resort photographer the prolific Damea Dorsey and the super low key Dilbert Butley.

All of you who have secured a spot on one of these expeditions can now engage Ted as your official photographer. Teds offering is very broad and covers everything from a collection of surfing images right through to gallery level prints and coffee table books from your expedition an opportunity that is normally only available to commercial clients or international surf labels.

We caught up with Ted between shoots at his Gold Coast home recently to grab a collection of images and a few of his thoughts on what great photography on a trip is all about (Check the slide show above) and Ted will also be doing a social media takeover next week with some classic images and the story behind them.

If you have not already locked Ted in for your expedition but would like to, just fill out the form below to connect with the service.

  • If you already have a boat trip planned with Indies Trader, please let us know the dates.
